Bailey Gitzel
Bailey grew up training at La Danse from 2007 to 2018 and is so thankful to be back in the place she cherishes most. Under the direction of Heather Myers, Hazel-Ann Stark, Linda Erickson, and Kelsey Stone, she developed a deep love for every style of dance she explored. Bailey proudly completed all her CDTA tap exams with Honours, as well as her RAD ballet exams to Advanced 1. She participated in countless competitions and expanded her training by attending numerous
conventions, intensives, and workshops across North America. Some of her most notable dance experiences include training at Harbour Dance Centre (Vancouver), Canadian Contemporary Dance Theatre (Toronto), and Quinte Ballet School (Belleville), being honoured as “Top Performer” four times (Perfomer/BDFA/5678 Showtime), travelling to Tremaine’s summer Intensive (Los Angeles) and WCU Worlds (Orlando), and joining Swinging with the Stars as a professional (Saskatoon).
Bailey completed her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology (Exercise and Sport Sciences) with great distinction in 2023 and is currently finishing her Master of Science in Exercise and Sport Psychology. Her graduate research focuses on mental health, physical activity promotion, and
active living. She is the proud recipient of a Canada Graduate Research Scholarship – Master’s (CGS-M) and will be presenting her research at the upcoming SCAPPS conference in Prince Edward Island.
Last year’s competition season marked immense growth in her teaching career, receiving her first choreography awards and sharing multiple overall awards with her fabulous students. To date, she sees her fostering a love for dance in the kids she teaches as her biggest accomplishment. Pushing for passion over placement, she is excited to continue sharing her love of performance, education, and wellness with the next generation of dancers.
