What's involved
The competitive program is a bigger commitment — both for dancers and families — but it's deeply rewarding. Dancers receive more training hours, personalized feedback from adjudicators, and the experience of performing on competition stages. Here's what to expect:
Additional Opportunities
Dancers in our competitive programs can be offered solos, duets, trios and/or small groups
Exams
Dancers may be invited to take exams ballet exams (RAD) and or tap exams (CDTA)
Attendance
Attendance at all competitions and recital is required for dancers in our competitive programs
Performances
Dancers will perform at in city and away competitions as well as the year end recital
AVAILABLE DISCIPLINES
Competitive disciplines
All competitive classes build on a foundation of strong technique. Most dancers train in a combination of these styles.

Ballet
Advanced ballet trainging from Gr 1- Adv 2 (RAD). Develops flowing, precise movements with ethereal qualities.

Acro
Advanced acrobatic skills integrated with dance — for strong, experienced movers.

Musical Theatre
Performance-driven storytelling combining song, dance, and acting for the stage.

Jazz
High-energy performance jazz with a focus on technique, precision, and stage presence.

Lyrical
Expressive, emotive storytelling through movement. Builds on ballet and jazz technique.

Contemporary
Contemporary movement for experienced dancers exploring movement pathways and patterns.

Tap
Rhythm-driven and technically demanding. Dancers will take a grade tap and competitve tap class weekly.

Street Dance
Urban styles with the energy and precision needed for the competition stage.

Solos, Duets & Small Groups
Featured competitive pieces for dancers ready for the spotlight. Arranged by the directors and instructors.
REQUIRED SUPPORT CLASSES
Conditioning classes
Some competitive streams require a supplementary conditioning class to support technique and help prevent injury. These classes can also be taken on their own by dancers who wants to build strength and flexibility.
Stretch & Strength
Builds the flexibility, total body strength, and body control that underpin strong technique across every style. A foundational class for focused dancers.
Required for Competitive Jazz
Pilates
Develops a strong understanding of correct movement pathways, muscle activation and body awareness that strengthens technique and supports safe, controlled movement in every discipline.
Senior dancers may substitute for Stretch & Strength
